SANTHO GOONEWARDENE
LOS ANGELES, CA
Santho Goonewardene, raised in the island of Sri Lanka during the civil war, immigrated to the United States alone when she was only 14. After a turbulent upbringing, she self-funded her higher education, graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Louisiana State University and went on to obtain a position in the film industry.
She has since worked on award-winning film and television projects in various capacities, including: TRUE DETECTIVE, HONDROS, and TOO OLD TO DIE YOUNG -- collaborating with many notable filmmakers including Nicolas Refn, Jake Gyllenhaal and David Gordon Green.
Her love of film carried her through many tumultuous times and led to her fervent belief in the importance of inclusive narratives. Her shorts have received festival and award recognition including the Best Actress award at LA SKINS FEST for the performance by Amber Midthunder in PRAYERS OF A SAINT. She’s excited to hone her skills and join the new generation of filmmakers committed to telling complex and diverse stories and hopes to empower others by using her emotionally seductive, visual voice.
Santho is also passionate about protecting the environment and actively supports and volunteers with organizations committed to safe-guarding it and the other species we share it with.
